Continuing Success
Continuing their success from their 6th place finish at Hickory the Cunningham Racing team posted another strong finish. Upon arriving at Southern National Speedway the team knew it would be another tough field to make. Of the 42 cars that showed up only 28 would make the field for Saturday’s night race. Throughout the day the number 61 machine was running consistently competitive and the team had high hopes for qualifying and the main race. The team rebounded from last Saturday’s qualifying time, with an outstanding 8th place qualifying this weekend at Southern National Speedway. During most of the race, KC Cunningham was racing with the lead pack of 5 cars. Around lap 120, unfortunately he lost communication with his spotter, Kevin Cunningham. KC made the split decision not to wreck his car or any other racecars, he began to run the outside groove until he was able to pit. After returning on the track this secured him a 13th place finish, and Rookie of the Race. After the race KC said, “Although we fell back some positions at the end it was still a good run for the team. This showed us that we could be competitive in these tough fields. Not to mention it feels great to be the Melling’s Select Rookie of the Race for the second week in a row. That is our ultimate goal for this season.” We are looking for individuals interested in being part of our team. We need crew members and sponsorship. Our next UARA event is scheduled for April 8th at Myrtle Beach Speedway, South Carolina. The UARA Division is a touring Late Model series their events range from Florida to Virginia all the way out to Tennessee. This is one of the most well run, competitive divisions anywhere combining great drivers with great equipment. For KC Cunningham and/or sponsorship opportunities contact the Cunning hams’ at RACIN68@cox.net. |
