Majestic Motor Mile

Dublin, VA. (04/29/2006)

By Cunningham Racing

The Cunningham Racing team had a good run at the majestic Motor Mile Speedway in Dublin, VA.  With its newly paved racing surface and its modern amenities it is one of the finest short tracks this series visits.  As with many of the tracks in the series, our team had never visited the speedway and was forced to accelerate our learning curve.  This was a much earlier race time at 4 pm, hence a shorten practice time to dial in the racecar and adjust to the track.

Throughout practice the team was running competitively and was looking forward to the race.  During qualifying, the field was so close in times, that KC missed the top 15 by only half a tenth of a second, qualifying 23rd.  After qualifying, the team chose to make a change that they thought would help the car for the race, consequently this would force them to start at the back of the 34 car field.

The start of the race KC was pacing himself well and was passing cars.  At the midway point, KC avoided a wreck and raced the leader back to the yellow. Unfortunately, this is not allowed in the UARA rules and KC was imposed a penalty.  He pulled his # 61 machine into the pits. Laps were lost in the pits and at the end of the night KC finished in the 15th position with the car entirely in tact for the next race. The next race will be at Greenville Pickens, South Carolina May 13.

“I am trying to stay focused on controlling the things that I can.  I can’t make mistakes like that if I want to stay in the rookie points race.  Next time I will know.”

We are looking for individuals interested in being part of our team.  We need crew members and sponsorship.  Our next UARA event is scheduled for May 13th at Greenville Pickens, SC.

The UARA Division is a touring Late Model series their events range from Florida to Virginia all the way out to Tennessee. This is one of the most well run, competitive divisions anywhere combining great drivers with great equipment.
