Mothers Day Weekend

Greenville, SC. (05/13/2006)

By Cunningham Racing

The weekend was filled for KC Cunningham and the team.  Friday night KC was happy to participate in the UARA-Stars charity-bowling event, which raised $683.00 for a needy family in the Greenville Pickens community.  Saturday morning before practice, he was a guest on Talk Radio 103.1 WIRX FM serving 17 counties in South Carolina and Georgia.  Not to mention he finished 10th in the Race Fumes 150 Saturday night.

Thirty-three cars made the trip to Greenville Pickens for the first UARA Stars race at the famed ½ mile speedway.  Throughout the day the Cunningham Racing team worked to improve the car’s handling.  At the end of practice, KC began to feel comfortable with the handling of the car and was looking forward to be the first car to go out to qualify.  Although KC felt the car was too loose for qualifying, he posted a 15th place qualifying position, which was an improvement on the past 2 weeks. The full moon hanging just off turn three would play a roll in the race and it didn’t take long for the action to get started. The first lap wreck was a foresight into the events of the night to come.  KC was able to keep the #61 car clean until lap 61 when he receive some help getting into the inside wall of turn 4.  This caused the racecar to develop a tight condition and he would be forced to fight the car the rest of the night.  Coming off a couple tough weeks KC was delighted to finally break back into the top ten at Greenville Pickens in the Race Fumes 150.

“I feel like we are back on the right path towards our goal of the Mellings Rookie of the Year title and this race has put us one step closer.  It was a good weekend not only racing but being able to reach out to the community of Greenville,” stated KC after the race.

We are looking for individuals interested in being part of our team.  We need crew members and sponsorship.  Our next UARA event is scheduled for May 20th at Orange County, NC.

The UARA Division is a touring Late Model series their events range from Florida to Virginia all the way out to Tennessee. This is one of the most well run, competitive divisions anywhere combining great drivers with great equipment.
