Martinsville Speedway
Martinsville is the largest late model stock car race in the country. Just to make the race is a very difficult task. This is because it is the best drivers in the best cars from the entire country. With such stiff competition this would be a huge learning experience for KC and the entire team. Coming back from the Wednesday practice the team made numerous changes to the car. These changes seemed to help the car but for some reason the car was still lacking power. After struggling with this problem all day Friday the team decided to change the spark plugs on Saturday morning. This cured the problem; finally the 61 car was running on all eight cylinders. Later in the day qualifying took place and KC was one of the first to qualify. With a time of 21.174 he would be placed 12th in the first heat race for Sunday afternoon. When the heat race finally rolled around the whole team was eager to see how the day would unfold. At the start KC began to move up and it looked as though KC would be able to make the show. Then with 5 to go while running in 7th, working on the 6th place car, KC lost a right front tire going into one and it put him into the wall. He was able to pull the car back down pit road but this incident lead to them not making the race. For KC Cunningham and/or sponsorship opportunities contact the Cunninghams’ at RACIN68@cox.net. |
