Ending the Season
The final race of the season is always one filled with emotion and wonder. There is always the let down of knowing that the next race is not for another four months and there is always the underlying question of what will happen next season. The weekend at Hickory Speedway began as normal for the Cunningham Racing team as they felt confident in the outlook for the race. During practice the team worked on the car and improved it to what they felt like was a top 10 car. When qualifying was completed KC had qualified in the 8th position giving him an excellent starting spot for the race. Prior to the race the scorer for the 61 team failed to make the mandatory scorers meeting incidentally putting the 61 to the rear of the field for the start. When the green flag dropped KC began to move forward through the field and felt as though he was going to have a good run. Then coming off of turn four a car turn sideways in the middle of the racetrack across the start/finish line and blocked the racetrack. With a car to the inside and a car in front of him KC had no place to go and was able to avoid the wreck with minor damage. After all of this KC finished 21st out of the 28 car field. “After the wreck the car just would not handle the same. I believe it was the ratchet springs because the car would not handle the same from lap to lap. Our plans for next season are still uncertain but I am hoping to be able to compete in the UARA series next season.” stated KC.
The UARA
Division is a touring Late Model series their events range from
